¿WHAT IS THE GED?
The GED is the equivalent to a high school diploma. In these 2 blocks you can find basic information and all you need to know about the structure of the GED test.
GED BASIC INFORMATION
- GED acceptance: it is estimated that in the USA 97% of universities accept the GED diploma. However, we recommend you check the acceptance GED policy with the institution you want to apply to.
- GED dates:
- GED exam dates: Since the GED is an online test there are multiple dates available. Check your GED account to determine what the options are.
- GED diploma dates: once you have passed the 4 GED tests, you receive a free electronic transcript in the email you provide. In order to get a paper based one, you will have to contact ged.com
- GED registration: You can register to take your GED at the official website, www.ged.com here.
- GED test center: in Barcelona, Knowtech is the only examination center for the GED.
- GED exam prices: the GED has a cost of $80 per each of the 4 exams.
- GED miscellaneous:
- There is no waiting period to retake the GED. After failing a subject 3 times you will have to wait 60 days before you can take it again.
- The international credential is called the District of Columbia High School Equivalency Diploma.
- The GED test is only provided in English.
GED EXAM ESTRUCTURE
The GED® test is divided in 4 individual test:
- Mathematics:
- Content tested: number operations and number sense, measurements and geometry, statistics, and basic algebra
- Number of questions: 50
- Time: 115 minutes
- Additional info: an on screen calculator is allowed
- Reasoning through Language Arts:
- Content tested: grammar, writing mechanics, and test comprehension
- Time: 150 minutes
- Additional info: this test consists of a multiple choice part + 1 essay
- Social Studies: US History, World History, Geography, Civics and government, Economics
- Number of questions: 50
- Time: 70 minutes
- Science:
- Content tested: Physical science (physics and chemistry), life science, and earth and space science.
- Number of questions: 50
- Time: 90 minutes
- Additional info: the science test is mainly a reading test based on science passages.
